Matt, the above statement gave me a good chuckle. It is true, but applying it to US policy completely miscromprehends the motives of those who direct US monetary policy. Protecting the population from the value-leeching effects of inflation is the last thing we should expect from govt.

Surprisingly, it is quite possible that the US will allow Bitcoin to exist alongside the coming digital dollar in a dual currency system -but only because the US government fully expects to completely control both Bitcoin and the U.S. CBDC.

Despite all the nonsense published about Bitcoin immutability and unconfiscatability, those qualities exist in Bitcoin only for as long as the Government permits them. Eventually, the US and its allies will jointly regulate Bitcoin mining. By controlling the majority of the Bitcoin hash rate, the government will be able to control all bitcoin transactions globally. Complete government control is the near term future for Bitcoin and all cryptocurrencies.
